FAQ

How do you plan on using this website?

When creating and maintaining this website, I always have two goals in mind:

  1. I want to create a clear image of my professional goals and the steps I am taking to accomplish them. With that in mind, this website serves as a sort-of e-portfolio that consolidates and showcases some of my writing and accomplishments.
  2. I want to create a space where I can connect with family and friends. As I get older and life gets busier, I’ve found it increasingly important to maintain relationships with the people I care about. As a writer, a blog is a fairly natural way to accomplish this (and it fulfills my desire to build an audience). On my blog, you can find me talking about a wide range of topics that interest me (i.e. English, healthcare, media studies, current events, sports, video games, etc.). I hope my work is thought-provoking or helps you get to know me better. I strongly encourage you to comment; hearing from you would make my day!

How can I be notified of new blog posts?

Subscribing to my blog is the best way to stay up to date! Subscribers automatically receive email notifications when new posts go live. If you’re interested, you can find the subscription form by clicking on the sidebar while visiting any page within the blog. On mobile devices, this will instead be located in the footer of the blog. Alternatively, you can subscribe by clicking the box that says “Notify me of new posts via email” when commenting on any post.

Can I share your work online?

Yes! In fact, I encourage you to share my blog posts; you can conveniently find share buttons at the end of every post. However, there are some conditions. This site is licensed under Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International (CC BY-NC-SA 4.0). This means that you must give me credit if you share or adapt/remix my work. If you adapt/remix my work, you must indicate if changes were made and your work must follow the same license conditions. Finally, you may not use my work for commercial purposes.

Will you continue updating this website?

Yes! I will for the indefinite future! I plan on continuing to use this website as both a portfolio and a way to interact with friends/family/readers. If I ever put this website on hold, I will archive its content and indicate how that content can be accessed.

Where can I find the sources that you use?

All of my blog posts contain hyperlinks that show where I found my information! All images should also have sources underneath them or at the bottom of the page (this is also where you can find any additional information regarding sources should there be any). For academic work listed under the “Writing” section of the website, pieces should contain Works Cited pages or contain links.

What WordPress theme and plugins do you use?

My website is built on the “Aakriti Personal Blog” theme and has been modified using CSS and WordPress plugins. The plugins I have installed (listed in order of greatest to least importance within this site) are as follows:

  1. Jetpack by WordPress.com

I will update the list if I install others.

What measures do you take to make your website accessible?

My website follows the guidelines listed by usability.gov. In accordance with these guidelines, my website does the following:

  1. Provides closed-captions and/or transcripts alongside video and audio content
  2. Provides alt-text alongside images
  3. Maintains design that can be navigated using keyboard + mouse
  4. Maintains design that does not rely heavily on colors for navigation

I am currently in the process of implementing all of these features. If any of this concerns you, please contact me.

Do I need any special software/tool to access, or view, any parts of your website?

Nope! I have carefully made sure that my website works on mobile, desktop, and tablet! No additional software should be necessary for the overwhelming majority of this site’s content, but please contact me if any issues arise.
